Methodology

I explored the idea of compressions to create the effect of colliding waves. The waves are created as a result of curved slits made on a piece of watercolour paper, pulling the paper taught results in a volume being formed.

The effect of colliding waves is observed from the increasing amplitude of the waves moving inwards when viewed from the front, inviting observes to enter the central core.

Additional volumes were created, by peeling back some of the cut slits, in order to enable more circulation around the space. Despites its relatively symmetrical geometry, users are able to take different routes around the space, with openings all around to congregate at a central core.
